A Place In This World
To the children who move through the world a little differently,
I want you to know something.
You belong here.
Even if the world sometimes feels loud,
or confusing,
or impatient.
Even if people do not always understand you right away.
You still belong here.
Some people speak quickly.
Some people understand things right away.
Some people move through life at a fast pace.
But you have your own rhythm.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
The world sometimes forgets that being human does not mean we all have to be the same.
Some of the most beautiful things in this world grow slowly.
Some of the strongest hearts speak in quiet ways.
Some of the kindest souls notice things other people miss.
You may not always say everything people expect you to say.
You may need more time.
You may need people who are patient enough to listen carefully.
But the people who love you will learn your language.
They will learn the way your eyes brighten when you are happy.
They will learn the way you reach for them when you need comfort.
They will learn the way you show the world who you are.
And when they do, they will discover something important:
You are not a problem that needs to be solved.
You are a person who deserves to be known.
Your life has value.
Your voice matters—even when it sounds different from everyone else's.
Your presence brings something into the world that no one else can bring.
There is room for you here.
In classrooms.
In neighborhoods.
In parks and playgrounds.
In the hearts of the people who are willing to see you clearly.
And if the world ever makes you feel like you are standing outside looking in,
remember this:
You are not outside the story.
You are part of it.
Exactly as you are.
