To Those Who Crowned a King: He Will Take

You cheered as the bill passed. You waved your flag and praised your party. You declared it a victory. But for whom?
You have not chosen a servant—you are anointing a king.
And just as the people once cried out for Saul, so too have you cried out for a man to rule over you. You’ve rejected accountability in favor of authority. You’ve traded justice for vengeance. And you’ve mistaken bluster for strength.
Let me tell you what your “victory” has done.
It has stolen insulin from the hands of the elderly. It has stripped food from children’s tables. It has locked veterans out of care. It has choked the air in mining towns, shuttered clinics in rural counties, and priced single mothers out of shelter.
And while you smiled, thinking you were untouched, the king you chose was taking from you too.
But hear the warning that was spoken long ago:
What your king will claim as his rights: Your sons—called to serve his ambitions. Your daughters—used for his glory. Your harvests—claimed for his war. Your land. Your labor. Your peace of mind—taken.
He will take. He will take. He will take.
You thought it would only hurt the undeserving. But tell me—what gospel told you to celebrate another’s suffering?
What Bible did you read that says, “Blessed are the powerful, for they shall exploit the weak”? Where did Christ ever say, “Trample the poor, for they are lazy”? Or, “Let Caesar bleed the sick dry, for they are a burden”?
No. You did not just ask for a king. You helped crown him with the pain of others. And the day is coming when the weight of that crown will press on you, too.
“When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.” —1 Samuel 8:18
You were warned. You just didn’t want to listen.

A Quienes Coronaron a un Rey: Él Tomará
Vitorearon cuando se aprobó la ley. Agitaron sus banderas y alabaron a su partido. Lo declararon una victoria. ¿Pero para quién?
No eligieron a un siervo—ungieron a un rey.
Y así como el pueblo una vez clamó por Saúl, así también ustedes clamaron por un hombre que los gobierne. Rechazaron la responsabilidad a cambio de autoridad. Cambiaron la justicia por venganza. Y confundieron arrogancia con fortaleza.
Déjenme decirles lo que su “victoria” ha hecho.
Ha robado insulina de las manos de los ancianos. Ha quitado comida de las mesas de los niños. Ha negado atención médica a los veteranos. Ha contaminado el aire en pueblos mineros, cerrado clínicas en zonas rurales y dejado a madres solteras sin techo.
Y mientras sonreían, creyendo que no les afectaba, el rey que eligieron también les quitaba a ustedes.
Pero escuchen la advertencia pronunciada hace mucho tiempo:
Lo que su rey reclamará como suyo: Sus hijos—llamados a servir sus ambiciones. Sus hijas—usadas para su gloria. Sus cosechas—tomadas para su guerra. Su tierra. Su trabajo. Su tranquilidad—arrebatados.
Él tomará. Él tomará. Él tomará.
Pensaron que solo afectaría a los que “no lo merecen”. Pero díganme—¿qué evangelio les enseñó a celebrar el sufrimiento ajeno?
¿Qué Biblia leyeron que dice, “Bienaventurados los poderosos, porque explotarán a los débiles”? ¿Dónde dijo Cristo, “Pisoteen a los pobres, porque son perezosos”? ¿O, “Dejen que César desangre a los enfermos, porque son una carga”?
No. No solo pidieron un rey. Lo coronaron con el dolor de otros. Y llegará el día en que el peso de esa corona recaerá sobre ustedes también.
“Y ese día clamaréis a causa de vuestro rey que os habéis elegido; pero el Señor no os responderá en aquel día.” —1 Samuel 8:18
Fueron advertidos. Simplemente no quisieron escuchar.
